Owning the Title!
This week, I decided to take a big step — I enrolled in a course all about the business side of flower farming.
For months, I’ve been trying to piece it all together:
How many plants do I need to grow to make enough bouquets… to meet the sales goals… to actually make ends meet? All while keeping track of expenses, supplies, and that never-ending task list.
And then, there’s the question of how to sell all those flowers. You can’t just grow them and hope people show up — it’s like planning a big party and forgetting to send the invitations. “Overwhelmed” doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Thankfully, I found a course that digs into the business of all things blooms. I’m only in Week 1, and the very first lesson hit home: get your mind right.
Let go of the imposter syndrome.
Let go of comparing yourself to others — because what you see on social media is often just the highlight reel.
Just… let it all go.
The instructor said something that really stuck: you have to own the title of Flower Farmer. Say it out loud. Be proud of it. Don’t be shy about telling people what you’re building. Let them share in your journey — the good and the messy parts alike.
So here I am — a wife, daughter, bonus mom, aunt, and full-time professional wearing many hats. But I’m also a Flower Farmer.
As I write this, I’m looking at a gift that caught my eye this morning — a framed quote my boss gave me years ago that reads:
“She believed she could, so she did.”
I’ve always loved those words, but today I noticed something new — the delicate flowers printed around them. Almost as if she knew something else was blooming in my future. 🌸
